Division A: Print Awards

The following awards are for work designed by a student, appearing in either a student newspaper or a professional newspaper during an internship. Winners: Please upload PDF images to our Flickr account. Email us for detailed instructions.

A1. Newspaper front page (news) design (broadsheet format) for a newspaper published three times a week or less.

A2. Newspaper front page (news) design (broadsheet format) for a newspaper published four or more times per week.

A3. Newspaper front page (news) design (tabloid format) for a newspaper published three times a week or less.

A4. Newspaper front page (news) design (tabloid format) for a newspaper published four or more times per week.

A5. Newspaper page design (news): single inside page or double truck, any size.

The following awards are for work designed by a student, appearing in a student newspaper or magazine OR a professional newspaper or magazine during an internship:

A6. Features page design: one page or one spread.

A7. Sports page design: one page or one spread.

A8. Multi-page story package (news or sports topic).

A10. Editorial or commentary page design: one page or one spread.

A11. Special topic — the economy: Submit single page, series or package of your choice that shows coverage of the economic crisis.

A12. Photo page design: one page or one spread.

A13. Overall use of photography: one entire issue of your choice.

A14. Illustration: can be hand-drawn, computer-generated or photographic.

A15. Information graphics: a single graphic or a combination of closely related graphics packaged together.

A16. Cover of a magazine or newspaper special section

A17. Overall design of a newspaper special section. Enter one complete issue.

A18. Overall design of a magazine. Enter three entire issues of your choice. (Three issues constitute one entry, at $14.)

A19. Overall design of a newspaper: Submit three entire issues of your choice. (Three issues constitute one entry, at $14.)

A20. Redesign of a magazine or newspaper: Submit one complete issue published prior to the redesign and two complete issues after the redesign. (Three issues constitute one entry, at $14.)

Division B: Multimedia Awards

B1. Best overall college news Web site (any news site produced by a group of students at one school)

B2. Best display for multimedia (as a feature of any news site produced by a group of students at one school)

B3. Best one-subject stand-alone mini-site OR special section/special package of a larger Web site (can be from a student publication or an internship, but must have been completely designed by students)

B4. Best interactive or animated infographic (can be from a student publication or an internship, but must have been completely designed by students)
