JUDGES
REAGAN BRANHAM | Reagan has worked at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for the past seven years as a features and sports designer. Her work has been recognized in state-wide and international design competitions, including a Silver Medal from SND. She has been a facilitator for several years for SND, and was a news judge for the 2008 competition. Before moving to St. Louis, Reagan was a news designer for the Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
GREG BRANSON | Greg Branson, deputy editor of art and design at the Kansas City Star, is former publisher of three weeklies in Miami County, Kansas, and former assistant graphics editor and A1 designer at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
GAYLE GRIN | Gayle Grin is President of SND. She's been involved in SND in virtually every possible way since becoming a regional director in 1998: serving on the Competition Committee and as a judge, as a frequent speaker on design topics, as a regular contributor to SND publications, a Quick Course host and speaker, a member of the SND Ethics committee, and now a SND blogger. She is the third Canadian to lead SND after the late Rob Austin, former Hamilton Spectator editor (1983-84) and design consultant Lucie Lacava (2000-01).
Grin is the managing editor of design and graphics at Canada's National Post in Toronto and the design consultant for the CanWest newspaper chain of which the Post is the flagship paper. She was part of the design team that launched the new national paper in 1998. Twice, the National Post has been named one of the World's Best-Designed Newspapers by SND.
On her own and in collaboration with her design team, Grin has won more than 250 design awards while at the National Post and the Montreal Gazette, where she worked as feature design director from 1990 to 1998. In 1998, Grin was the recipient of the prestigious Canadian National Newspaper Award, Canada's top newspaper honor. In the most recent SND design competition, the National Post was one of the top three winning newspapers in all categories, winning 51 awards.
